1. Johar Town

2. Township
Budget-friendly and popular with students commuting to campuses along Ferozepur Road. It is home to Minhaj University and the University of Education's Township campus.

Quieter and more residential, and a good option for Forman Christian College on Ferozepur Road if you want distance from the noise without a long commute.

Many public universities — PU, UET, KEMU, FJMU and others — have their own hostels, allotted only through the university's hostel office, so apply there first. Never pay anyone who offers to "arrange" a university hostel seat.
Register with the police
Under the Punjab Information of Temporary Residents Act 2015, rented houses and hostel rooms must be registered with the police. Lahore Police say the owner, the tenant or the property dealer can do it free of charge at the local police station or a Police Khidmat Markaz, or online. Ask your hostel to show you that you have been registered.
What to check before you book
- The owner is real — check the owner's CNIC yourself and ask for proof that they own or manage the building. A "verified" label on any website is not a check of the building.
- Photos that match the room — ask for a live video call from the gate to the room if you can't visit.
- What's included — electricity backup, Wi-Fi, meals and laundry vary a lot between hostels.
- Deposit and notice period — get both in writing before you pay anything.
