Short answer: a 5 marla plot is 1,125 ft², usually 25 × 45 ft (with the 225 ft² marla). On one storey it fits two bedrooms, a bathroom with a store above it, a kitchen, a TV lounge, a drawing room and a car porch: 796 ft² of rooms, and the house covers 983 ft² (87 %) of the plot. A 10 marla plot of 35 × 65 ft (2,275 ft²) fits two bedrooms with their own bathrooms, a 25 × 16 ft TV lounge, a drawing room with a guest toilet, a store, a 32 ft long car porch and a lawn. Both plans open in the free 3D floor planner, where you can move every wall and get the materials.

The 5 marla house plan (25 × 45 ft)

Open this 5 marla plan in the planner — it opens with every room below, 9-inch outside walls and 10 ft ceilings.

The bedrooms sit at the back and down one side, the TV lounge runs along the other side and joins the car porch at the front, and the drawing room has its own door from the porch for guests. The rooms add up to 796 ft²; with the walls the house covers 983 ft², which leaves only the car porch open. Most 5 marla houses build a second floor the same way: in the planner, Add a floor copies the rooms, windows and inside doors to the floor above, ready to change.

The 10 marla house plan (35 × 65 ft)

Open this 10 marla plan in the planner — 9-inch outside walls and 11 ft ceilings.

Rooms take 1,260 ft² and the house covers 1,516 ft² (67 % of the plot), so a 10 marla house keeps a real lawn in front and room to park two cars in line. Add a first floor for the usual three or four bedrooms.

Bricks, cement and steel for the grey structure

The planner's Build the house section counts the walls along their middle line, shared walls once, and the concrete under and over the rooms. With a flat RCC roof added and the Pakistani settings it opens with:

5 marla (983 ft² covered)10 marla (1,516 ft² covered)

Cement (50 kg bags)257400

Crush (bajri)29.9 m³ (1,055 cft)45.8 m³ (1,617 cft)
Steel628 kg1,015 kg

What is in it: 9-inch outside and 4½-inch inside brick walls in 1:6 mortar, ½-inch plaster in 1:4 on both faces and on the ceilings, 2 × 1 ft concrete strip footings, a 4-inch floor slab, a 5-inch roof slab with 3/8-inch bars at 6 inches both ways, and 5 % spare.

What is not: the boundary wall, the parapet, columns and beams, lintels, stairs and the car porch roof. That is why the brick count is lower than the usual rule of thumb of 26–28 bricks per ft² of covered area (25,600–27,500 bricks for 983 ft²; Zameen.com and ACCO estimates for 5 and 10 marla houses), which also covers brick foundations and boundary walls; the cement agrees with the same estimates' 0.24–0.31 bags per ft² (236–305 bags). For a budget in rupees, use the construction cost calculator; for one wall, the brick calculator. The house quantities are an estimate for ordering, not a structural design: have the slab, beams and steel checked by an engineer.

Frequently asked questions

What size is a 5 marla plot?

With the 225 ft² marla used by DHA, LDA and most housing societies, 5 marla is 1,125 ft², most often 25 × 45 ft. With the 272.25 ft² revenue marla it is 1,361 ft². The marla calculator converts either one.

How many bedrooms fit in a 5 marla house?

Two on the ground floor, as in the plan above, and two or three more on a first floor, so 4–5 bedrooms in a double-storey 5 marla house.

Can I change the plan or draw my own?

Yes. Every wall, door and window can be moved, rooms resized by typing their size, and furniture added; the 3D view and the walk-through follow every change. It is free, with no sign-up, and the plan stays in your browser.

Can I get the plan as a PDF?

Yes: Download PDF in the planner saves the drawn plan with every room's size and the shopping list. You can also copy a link that opens the same plan.
