How many days are left until my exam?

How are days, working days and study hours worked out?

  1. 01Time left = exam moment − now (days, hours, minutes, seconds)
  2. 02Days left = calendar days from today up to the day before the exam
  3. 03Working days = days left − weekend days
  4. 04Weeks left = days left ÷ 7
  5. 05Study hours = study days × hours a day

The live countdown works out the exact moment of your exam in its own time zone (so daylight saving is handled) and subtracts the current time, every second. Because it always compares with the real clock, it never falls behind in a background tab.

The day counts are whole calendar days in the exam's time zone, from today (or tomorrow, if you untick “Count today”) up to the day before the exam — the exam day itself is for the exam, not for study. Weekend days are taken off to give working days; choose Saturday + Sunday, Friday + Saturday (as in much of the Gulf) or another pattern. Study hours multiply your study days by the hours you can study each day. Public holidays aren't known, so take those off yourself.

Good to know

  • Count backwards: put your mock exams and revision start date in as their own countdowns.
  • Study hours left ÷ number of chapters tells you how long you can spend on each chapter.
  • Share the link in your class group so everyone sees the same countdown.

Exam countdown — common questions

How many days are left until my exam?

Enter the exam date above. The countdown shows the full days, hours, minutes and seconds left, and below it the calendar days up to the day before the exam, the working days and the weeks.

Is the exam day counted?

No. Days left run from today up to the day before the exam, because the exam day is for the exam itself. Untick “Count today as a day” if today is already over for you.

How are working days counted?

Days left minus weekend days. Pick your weekend: Saturday + Sunday, Friday + Saturday, only Friday, only Sunday or none. Public holidays are not taken off.

Does it work for an exam in another country?

Yes. Choose the exam's time zone; the countdown uses that local time and also shows the same moment in your own time zone.

Can I share my countdown?

Yes. “Copy link” makes a link with the title, date, time and time zone in it, so anyone who opens it sees the same countdown. You can also add it to your calendar with an .ics file.

Where are my saved countdowns kept?

In this browser only (local storage). Nothing is uploaded, and clearing your browser data removes them.
