How do I rotate pages in a PDF?

  1. 1Choose your PDF, or drag it onto the box.
  2. 2Pick the turn: 90° right, 180° or 90° left.
  3. 3Choose all pages, odd or even pages, or tap the pages to turn (or type them, like 1-3, 5).
  4. 4Press Rotate PDF and download the fixed file.

How does rotating a PDF work?

  3. 03Odd pages = 1, 3, 5… · even pages = 2, 4, 6…

Every PDF page has a rotation setting that tells readers how to show it: 0, 90, 180 or 270 degrees clockwise. Rotating changes only that setting and saves it in the file, so the page opens the right way in every PDF reader, on every device, and prints that way too — unlike the rotate button in a viewer, which is often forgotten when you close the file.

Because the page content itself isn't redrawn, rotating never lowers the quality: text stays sharp and searchable and scans keep every pixel. If a page was already turned, the new turn is added to it.

The PDF is opened and saved inside your browser with the open-source pdf-lib library. Nothing is uploaded, so you can safely fix scans of contracts, IDs and bank papers.

Good to know

  • Scanned a double-sided document and every back page is upside down? Choose Even pages and 180°.
  • Tap pages in the preview to rotate just a few — the box above fills in the page numbers for you.
  • A page looks sideways only on your phone? It may be a landscape page; rotate it only if it is wrong in every viewer.
  • Rotate before merging so every part of the final PDF reads the same way.

Rotate PDF — common questions

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The file is opened, rotated and saved inside your browser on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server.

Will rotating lower the quality?

No. Only the page's rotation setting changes. Text, pictures and scans are not redrawn or compressed.

Can I rotate just one page?

Yes. Choose "Choose pages" and type the page number, or tap that page in the preview. Other pages stay as they are.

Is the rotation saved permanently?

Yes. The new direction is stored in the PDF, so the page opens the right way in any reader and when printed.

Which way does 90° right turn the page?

Clockwise, like turning a sheet of paper to the right. 90° left turns it anticlockwise, and 180° turns it upside down.

Can I rotate a password-protected PDF?

No. Encrypted PDFs can't be changed without unlocking them. Save or print the file as a new PDF without protection, then rotate that copy.
